Then and Now
In 1979, Tom Sharp, Jr. purchased a small established radio repair shop, and, along with one employee, began his own company. Today Sharp Communication operates out of 9600 square foot facilities at 3403 Governors Drive in Huntsville, Alabama, with an average of 35 fulltime employees.

The company also operates a facility in Cullman, Alabama, due to the large customer base in that area.

Customer Oriented
Sharp Communication, locally owned and operated since 1979, places a major emphasis on customer service, and a firm belief that employees are the backbone of any successful company. With an extremely low turnover rate, most of our employees are long term, and have been instrumental in growing the business and keeping the customer first.

We underwent an extreme remodeling and upgrade of our facilities in 2009 to better serve our customers.

Sales Staff
Our sales staff has many years of combined experience and knowledge in the area they serve, and can consult with our customers to help determine the most cost-effective and efficient product and service needs. Our communications staff has undergone extensive Motorola product training. and have earned certification as Radio Communication Representatives, and some have achieved Professional certification.

Technicians
Sharp Communication is a certified service center. Our technicians are factory trained on many of our products, and participate in ongoing training. Our communications technicians are ETA Certified Electronics Technicians, and some have achieved Senior status. We service what we sell.

Licensing, Certifications, Special Designations

• General Contractors License - Number 15995
  We hold a General Contractor's license for the State of Alabama, with an unlimited bid limit. This authorizes us to perform Telecommunications Projects, Fire Protection Systems, Low Voltage. A General Contractor's License is required in the state of Alabama where the cost of the undertaking, including labor and materials, is $50,000 or more.
• Certified Service Center
  The CSC program is designed as a tool to help consumers find quality service centers, to help electronics manufacturers (such as Motorola) to select service centers for in-warranty repairs, and to provide a standard for professional service firms that desire to offer outstanding high quality customer service.
• Electronic Technicians Association
  An ETA certification signifies that the holder has demonstrated professional proficiency and has the technical knowledge and skill to meet international electronics industry standards. ETA certification programs are non-discriminatory and objective, setting ETA apart from other manufacturer and product-related certifications
• Motorola Premier Service Partner
  PSP is the highest level of service relationship, representing the greatest level of Motorola/Servicer agreement and interdependence. Motorola Servicers who attain this level have demonstrated consistent capabilities in performance, personnel and commitment to Motorola products and services.
• Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure - AL Lic #158
  Code of Alabama, Section 34-1A and the rules and regulations promulgated by AESBL, require the licensing of any person, sole proprietorship, company or corporation that provides sales, service, installation, maintenance or monitoring of burglar alarm systems, access control and closed circuit tv sytems locksmiths. Our security systems division personnel hold an individual AESBL license, and must partake in continuing education programs in order to be renewed annually.

COMMUNICATIONS:

• Sharp Communication is an authorized Motorola Two-Way Radio Dealer offering the latest in mobile communications.
   
• We are a Motorola Premier Service Partner, with our own factory trained staff of experienced service professionals who are totally committed to keeping your system performing at peak efficiency. Most of our technicians are long-time employees of Sharp Communication, up to over 25 years.
   
• We are also authorized two-way radio dealers for Kenwood and M/A-COM.
   
• We own and operate a Kenwood trunked 2-way radio system in north Alabama.
   
• Over the years, we have consulted for many radio communications companies and dealers, and assisted in the design and installation of their systems.
   
• We own and operate a paging system serving customers in the Huntsville, north Alabama area.
   
• We offer collocation on tower sites we own in north Alabama. Our customers include major cellular carriers.
   
• 911 / Emergency management communications: from design to installation to ongoing service and maintenance, we have the experience and qualifications to get the job done.
   
• We also provide AVL GPS vehicle tracking, interoperability, and mobile command posts.

SECURITY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS & EQUIPMENT

• Sharp Communication has been protecting people and property since 1982 by providing consultation, sales, design, installation and service of security surveillance systems for schools, hospitals, commercial, industrial, government, military, public safety, corrections, 911, private and retail security management applications. We do not do home security or home burglar alarm systems.
   
• Products include cctv and video systems, access control, gate and parking lot control, motion detection, turnstiles.
   
• Sharp Communication and its Security Systems Division personnel are certified annually by the Alabama Electronic Security Board of LIcensure (AL Lic #158). We hold a valid General Contractors License for the State of Alabama. Our company is fully insured.

PUBLIC SAFETY

• We sell, design, install and maintain emergency warning systems, lights, lightbars, siren, radar, in car mobile video, for public safety, utilities, construction.
